osmosis    音标拼音: [,ɔzm'osɪs]
n. 渗透作用,渗透性

渗透作用,渗透性

osmosis
n 1: (biology, chemistry) diffusion of molecules through a
semipermeable membrane from a place of higher concentration
to a place of lower concentration until the concentration
on both sides is equal

osmosis \os*mo"sis\ ([o^]z*m[=o]"s[i^]s), n. [NL., fr. Gr.
'wsmo`s, equiv. to 'w^sis impulse, fr. 'wqei^n to push.]
(Chemical Physics)
(a) The tendency in fluids to mix, or become equably
diffused, when in contact. It was first observed between
fluids of differing densities, and as taking place
through a membrane or an intervening porous structure. An
older term for the phenomenon was {Osmose}.

Note: The more rapid flow from the thinner to the thicker
fluid was then called {endosmosis} (formerly
{endosmose}), and the opposite, slower current,
{exosmosis} (formerly {exosmose}). Both are, however,
results of the same force. Osmosis may be regarded as a
form of molecular attraction, allied to that of
adhesion. See also {osmotic pressure}.
(b) The action produced by this tendency.

  • Osmosis: Video, Causes, Meaning | Osmosis
Osmosis is a group of people that take complicated medical topics and teach them in an organized and effective way so that the information seeps into your brain and leads to longer retention… oh wait, not that Osmosis?
  • Osmosis | Definition, Examples, Facts | Britannica
Osmosis, the spontaneous passage or diffusion of water or other solvents through a semipermeable membrane (one that blocks the passage of dissolved substances—i e , solutes) The process, important in biology, was first thoroughly studied in 1877 by a German plant physiologist, Wilhelm Pfeffer
  • Osmosis - Definition and Examples - Biology Dictionary
Osmosis is when a substance crosses a semipermeable membrane in order to balance the concentrations of another substance In biology, this is usually when a solvent such as water flows into or out of a cell depending on the concentration of a solute such as salt
  • Osmosis - Wikipedia
Osmosis is the movement of a solvent across a semipermeable membrane toward a higher concentration of solute In biological systems, the solvent is typically water, but osmosis can occur in other liquids, supercritical liquids, and even gases [11][12]
  • Physiology, Osmosis - StatPearls - NCBI Bookshelf
Osmosis, Greek for push, is the net movement of water across a semipermeable membrane (see Figure Osmosis) [1][2] Across this membrane, water tends to move from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration
  • Osmosis: Definition and How Does it Occur (with Diagram) - Science Facts
Osmosis is defined as the spontaneous movement of solvent molecules from a region of low solute concentration to a region of high solute concentration through a semipermeable membrane in order to equalize their concentrations on both sides of the membrane
  • Osmosis Definition - BYJUS
Osmosis is a passive process and happens without any expenditure of energy It involves the movement of molecules from a region of higher concentration to lower concentration until the concentrations become equal on either side of the membrane
  • Osmosis – Definition, Types, Mechanism, Significance, Examples
Osmosis is the spontaneous movement of solvent molecules, typically water, through a selectively permeable membrane from a region of lower solute concentration to a region of higher solute concentration, aiming to equalize solute concentrations on both sides
  • Osmosis - Transport in cells - AQA - GCSE Combined Science Revision . . .
Revise how gases and liquids transport into and out of both animal and plant cells occurs through diffusion, osmosis and active transport
  • OSMOSIS Definition Meaning - Merriam-Webster
The meaning of OSMOSIS is movement of a solvent (such as water) through a semipermeable membrane (as of a living cell) into a solution of higher solute concentration that tends to equalize the concentrations of solute on the two sides of the membrane
