Proper use of a traveler - SailNet Community What is the proper use of the traveler? I know it is used for sail shape, but for just cruising on a starboard tack should it be more to the port side of center or starboard How exactly (tough choice of words) should it be set depending on a particular point of sail I believe on a close haul it should be at center Appreciate any opinions on setting the traveler

Topping lift and boom vang - SailNet Community As I eased the main sail sheet out, I noticed that the topping lift developed Slack and the end of the boom lowered I never did open the Bimini frame because I panicked taking the boom might fall into the water I can clearly see the topping lift wire running from the end of the boom to the top of the Masthead
